About Family Ties
Welcome to Family Ties, the place for Midlands parents to connect, learn and have fun.
We have designed the site – produced by The State newspaper – to be a resource and gathering place where families can start conversations, get information and share the joy and challenges of parenting.
We offer many ways to do that from advice by family and parenting experts to forums where you can ask questions and read comments from other parents like you. We hope you’ll find it topical, informative, entertaining and useful.
Overview
A few of our featured topics include family and child issues in the news, trends, family entertainment, parenting advice and education.
Check out the “Help Nancy” question where you can tell one of our staff members and her friends how to raise their kids.
We also will post columns by parenting experts such as John Rosemond and a column called Ex-etiquette that addresses the issues of divorced and remarried parents.
Need a quick dinner idea? Check out our recipes or post your own in the family forums. Maybe you just need a giggle or a fun project to do with your children. Look for those ideas in the “Just for fun” link.
At least once a week, we’ll have a “Hot topic” item and ask for your comments on a trend or an issue in the news. Also, look for our question of the week on the Family Ties forums page.
Forums
Check out the forums link to read about and comment on subjects that matter to you. Ask questions, offer advice and swap stories with other parents. Share something special your child said in the “Funny Things Kids Say” feature.
You must be a registered user to participate in the discussions. Sign up to participate in our Family Ties forums now
